JAKARTA (15 August 2021) – In commemoration of the 76th Indonesian Independence Day and the 56th Indonesia-Japan relations. President Director of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka, Mr. Yoshihiro Bando and the extended family of the Friendship Foundation came to the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMPN) to visit the graves of former Japanese soldiers at the Kalibata TMPN, Jakarta, Sunday (15/8/2021) afternoon. Accompanied by the Chairman of the Friendship Foundation Mr. Heru Santoso Etoo and the Chairperson of the Friendship Foundation Mrs. Lokawati Nakagawa, they sowed flowers and prayed fervently in front of the tombs of the Japanese soldiers.
The flower-laying visit at the Kalibata hero's grave began with the sowing of flowers on the grave of Mr. Miyahara (the last Japanese soldier who died in 2013), then continued to the Tomb of Mr. Otsudo, Mr. Giro Nakagawa, Mr. Josep Etoo, Mr. Fujiyama. The total number of Japanese soldiers buried in the Kalibata Grave were 27 people.
On this occasion, Mr. Yoshihiro Bando also visited the grave of the former 2nd President of Indonesia, Mr. BJ. Habibie, along with Mrs. Ainun Habibie and Mrs. Ani Yudoyono. Also present to accompany the pilgrimage was Hiroaki Kato (Japanese artist who domiciled in Indonesia) and also the second and third descendants of the Japanese soldiers.
The President Director of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka Indonesia also had the opportunity to observe a moment of silence in front of the Kalibata tomb monument to honor the struggle of the Japanese soldiers who died in the struggle for Indonesian independence.
